Large passenger and freight elevators can be made "holeless" by this design. Very large capacities and platform sizes can be accommodated. The elevator can be made "holeless" up to 40 ft. of travel at standard overhead and pit. For higher travels, an extended pit or "pit recess" can be implemented.

The telescopic cylinders in this design can be located either close to the mid-point of the sling with the guide rails offset or with the guide rails centered and the cylinders placed diagonally, connected by an auxiliary "cross-head". The later design can be used when the original sling and cabin are to be utilized. In twin designs, over-emphasis must be placed on building a rigid design. One cylinder alone must be able to carry the gross load without deformation in the sling.
