Multiphase Pumps
MULTIPHASE PUMPS CAN MAKE MONEY!!
Conventional methods for producing oil and gas can now be replaced by a simpler, more economic technology known as multiphase pumping. Multiphase pumping does not require separation of oil, gas, or water, so production from the wells can be gathered and pumped to a central processing area without requiring separate flow lines, separators, heater treaters, intermediate storage tanks, gas flares, compressors, and separate pumping facilities. Elimination of this equipment means a smaller platform and a much more economical installation can be used to boost the production (i.e., increase its pressure) so it can move downstream for processing.

Multiphase pumping can handle low inlet pressures, which makes it ideal for lowering the backpressure against the well. In many wells, particularly those on artificial lift, substantial gains and an accelerated production rate can be achieved with even a modest drop in pressure - enough to payout the costs within a few months in many cases.

APPLICATIONS
Leistritz Multiphase Pumps are built for use offshore, onshore or sub sea use and are available in both a high pressure (1200 psi delta p) and a low (200 psi delta p) design. They are ideal for a broad range of crude oils and water cuts, and work very well with viscous crudes. The pumps are made to handle sudden variations in flow patterns (slugging flow) wherein the flows shift from all liquid to practically all gas, with no pressure drop due to the continuos pumping action of the twin screws in the pump. They have been successfully used in gassy and foamy wells as well flows with lower gas content.

WHY SCREW PUMPS WORK BEST FOR MPP APPLICATIONS
Leistritz MPP twin screw pumps are ideal for multiphase production because they can handle highly viscous crudes along with high gas volume fraction (GVF) at high flow and pressure - independently of backpressure and changes in GVF during the life of the field. The pumps are built to handle 100 % GVF and no slug catcher or flow conditioner is necessary.
